EV battery enclosures
Extruded frames and plate floors that protect cells and manage heat.
Lighter vehicles go further on every litre and every charge. Metline Industries supplies aluminium sheet, extrusions, plate and tube for body structures, EV battery systems, thermal management and chassis parts.

Replacing steel with aluminium can cut the weight of a body or chassis part significantly. For combustion vehicles that means lower fuel use and emissions. For electric vehicles it offsets the heavy battery pack and adds range.
Aluminium also absorbs crash energy well when designed as extruded crush rails, conducts heat away from batteries and power electronics, and is easy to recycle at the end of the vehicle's life.

5xxx sheet for inner panels and 6xxx sheet for bonnets, doors and boot lids.
Extruded bumper beams and crush boxes in 6xxx and 7xxx alloys.
Radiator, condenser and cooling plate materials, including brazing sheet.
Forged control arms and knuckles in 6061 and 6082.
Cast and forged wheels for weight saving where it matters most.
| Alloy | Form | Why it is used |
|---|---|---|
| 5182 / 5754 | Sheet | Formable, corrosion-resistant inner panels and structural parts |
| 6016 / 6014 | Sheet | Outer panels that gain strength during paint baking |
| 6061 / 6082 | Extrusions, forgings, plate | Battery trays, subframes, suspension components |
| 6063 / 6005A | Extrusions | Battery enclosure frames, roof rails, trim |
| 7003 / 7046 | Extrusions | High-strength bumper beams and crash structures |
| 3003 clad | Brazing sheet | Radiators, condensers and battery cooling plates |

Aluminium is light, stiff when extruded into hollow sections, conducts heat away from the cells and resists corrosion, which makes it ideal for battery enclosures.
6xxx alloys such as 6016 for outer panels, because they harden during paint baking, and 5xxx alloys such as 5182 and 5754 for inner panels.
