Material condition, section and acceptance need to be assessed together for formed aluminium.
Different ways to create shape
Hydro describes bending, stretch forming and hydroforming among its profile-fabrication routes. Hydroforming can turn an extruded tube into a three-dimensional part. A general claim that aluminium is formable is therefore only an introduction; the manufacturer must review the exact geometry and delivered condition for the proposed component.
Define the formed result
Supply a controlled final drawing with datums, interface positions and critical shape requirements. Identify cosmetic surfaces and any locations that must accept fasteners or seals. Ask the fabricator which inspection method will establish the formed shape and how deviations are evaluated. Agree whether checking fixtures represent the free part or its installed condition.
Coordinate material and sequence
Provide the proposed alloy, temper, section and intended joining or finishing operations. Ask for a route proposal that identifies the condition used during forming and the condition required at delivery. Compare trial parts to the actual acceptance requirements before approving a production route. Do not transfer a general bending capability to every wall, radius or alloy condition.
Plan approval and change control
Record which drawing revision and material condition were used for the approved sample, and establish which changes require renewed review. A useful quotation includes tooling, trial scope, inspection and surface protection as well as production price. The public indexed Hydro page was read, but direct retrieval timed out. No minimum bend radius or guaranteed springback correction is prescribed.

Match the test with the deformation
Elval distinguishes bend, cupping and earing tests, while Speira distinguishes outer-panel surface needs from inner structural forming. Explain the actual forming path and post-form finish when requesting material. A reference tensile value cannot replace a trial or acceptance method that represents the component geometry and its visible surfaces.
