Balance conductivity, mechanical condition, connection design and temperature.
Specify both electrical and mechanical requirements
6101 reference data shows that temper changes can alter the balance of strength and conductivity. A conductor selection therefore needs more than the alloy number or section area.
Read the condition
The database includes one T6 reference condition. Other 6101 tempers exist, but their values must be checked separately rather than inferred from that row.
Use resistance correctly
R = ρL/A describes a uniform conductor using resistivity at the chosen condition. This simple calculation excludes connections, skin effects and temperature rise. It cannot establish ampacity.
Define the assembly
Specify joint preparation, mounting, expansion allowance and service environment. Obtain an electrical and thermal design assessment for the complete assembly.

Review terminals as well as conductor stock
UACJ compares material and temper alongside electrical conductivity. Speira identifies contact resistance as an additional concern for contact systems. A uniform conductor calculation cannot include every terminal interface or thermal boundary. Specify joint preparation, terminal construction, bends and cooling conditions for the component review, while preserving the supplied material condition in the purchase record.
