Estimate bare-metal mass from nominal geometry. Results are theoretical, not measured shipment weights.
Formula
V = section area × length. For a prismatic section, V = A × length. Mass = V × density.
Worked example
area: 100 mm²; length: 100 mm. At 2700 kg/m³ and one piece, the calculated mass is 0.027000 kg.
Assumptions and limits
Uses ideal nominal geometry. Manufacturing tolerances, surface layers and packing are excluded.
Density defaults to a rounded 6061 reference. Change it for the actual material. Read the mass-estimation guide.
