H24 / H25
Strain-hardened then partially annealed (or stabilised during paint curing). The usual choice for pre-painted siding, gutters and roll-formed profiles because the extra elongation protects the paint at bends.
3105 is an aluminium-manganese-magnesium alloy made for coil coating, roll forming and stamping: a little stronger than 3003, very formable and the standard base metal for pre-painted building products and screw caps. Metline supplies 3105 sheet and coil in mill finish, embossed and pre-painted PE or PVDF, slit or cut to length, certified to ASTM B209 or EN 485, worldwide.

3105 contains about 0.3 – 0.8 % manganese and 0.2 – 0.8 % magnesium. The two elements together give strength slightly above 3003 at lower total alloy content, and the alloy can tolerate higher levels of recycled scrap, which helps keep its cost down. It is non-heat-treatable and is strengthened by cold rolling.
Most 3105 is sold as coil, either bare for customers who paint or laminate in their own lines, or coil-coated with polyester (PE), silicone-modified polyester or PVDF paint. Pre-painted 3105 is roll-formed into residential siding, soffits, gutters and downpipes, garage doors, mobile-home and trailer skins, and sign blanks. Thin 3105 strip in H14 to H19 tempers is also a major closure alloy for pilfer-proof screw caps on bottles.
Because the alloy work-hardens moderately and has good elongation in the H2x tempers, it survives the tight bends of roll-formed profiles and hemmed edges without cracking the paint film, provided the temper and coating are matched to the forming process.

Aluminum Association limits per ASTM B209; EN AW-3105 (EN 573-3) is the same alloy. Each lot is certified with its actual analysis.
Typical values from published Aluminum Association / ASM data are shown first, followed by the specified limits in ASTM B209 for the most common tempers. Note that B209 sets a tensile range (minimum and maximum) for these tempers, which keeps forming behaviour consistent from coil to coil.

Thickness bands converted from the inch tables in ASTM B209; elongation minimums rise with thickness. The certificate reports the tested values for each coil.
Strain-hardened then partially annealed (or stabilised during paint curing). The usual choice for pre-painted siding, gutters and roll-formed profiles because the extra elongation protects the paint at bends.
Strain-hardened only. Stiffer, flatter panels and sign blanks; slightly less formable than H24 / H26.
Full hard. Thin closure stock and flat parts with no forming.
Soft for deep drawing and stamping, then usually painted after forming.
Coil coating ovens reach roughly 230 – 250 °C metal temperature, which softens hard tempers slightly. Mills therefore supply H1x substrate that ends up near H2x properties after coating; specify the final temper you need.
Describe your roll-forming or bending process and the tightest radius, and we will suggest a temper and coating combination.
Bare sheet and coil for painting, laminating or anodising in your own line. Specify surface quality, flatness and degreasing or chemical pre-treatment requirements.
An irregular embossed texture that stiffens thin sheet and hides handling marks. Widely used for insulation jacketing on pipes and tanks.
Polyester coatings around 18 – 25 µm for interior use, signs and cost-sensitive exterior products.
Fluoropolymer coatings, usually two or three coats, for long-life exterior cladding with high colour and gloss retention.
Five-bar and diamond patterns for steps, light floors and protective panels where low weight matters more than load capacity.
Peelable film for transport and forming, recommended for visible panels.
For coated sheet, the specification should cover the coating system (PE, SMP or PVDF), dry film thickness on the face and reverse, colour reference (RAL, NCS or customer sample) and permitted colour difference (ΔE), gloss level and any test requirements such as T-bend, impact or salt-spray performance. Colours seen on a screen are only indicative; approve a physical panel before bulk production.

Pre-painted sheet is commonly tested to EN 13523 (coil coating test methods) or ASTM D-series methods for film thickness, adhesion, flexibility and weathering. Tell us which applies.
3105 weighs about 2.72 kg per m² per millimetre. A 0.040 in (1.02 mm) sheet of 48 × 96 in weighs about 8.3 kg (18.2 lb); paint adds only a few grams per square metre.

H24 / H25 accepts tight bends and hems. For painted sheet, check the coating's T-bend rating against your tightest bend and form at room temperature or above.
O and H2x tempers stamp well; closure stock in H14 – H19 is formed in high-speed presses with controlled earing.
Weldable by TIG and MIG with ER4043 or ER1100, but welding damages paint. Painted panels are normally riveted, screwed, clinched or bonded.
Use protective film on visible panels, store dry and avoid condensation between sheets, which causes water staining on mill finish.
If you need higher strength for cladding spans or better corrosion resistance near the sea, consider 3004 or 5005; for painted trailer panels exposed to heavy impact, 5052 is a common upgrade.

In practice, 3105 is the economical choice for painted sheet, 3003 for bare fabricated parts and brazed products, and 5005 when an anodised appearance matters.
Mainly pre-painted building products (siding, gutters, soffits), trailer and mobile-home panels, insulation jacketing, signs and screw-cap closures.
3105 contains magnesium as well as manganese and is slightly stronger; it is optimised for painting and roll forming. 3003 has more manganese and is preferred for bare fabricated parts, tanks and brazed products.
H24 or H25, which combine adequate stiffness with enough elongation to roll-form tight profiles without cracking the paint.
PE is economical for interior and moderate exterior use. PVDF gives much better colour and gloss retention for long-life exterior cladding.
It can, but the result is not as uniform as 5005; 3105 is chosen for painting rather than decorative anodising.
