Pick the specification that governs your order
Begin with how the part is made and in what form. Drawn tube, extrusions and forgings are often covered by different standards. The document you choose must also include your alloy, temper, sizes and inspection needs. Name the edition in your purchase order and agree it with the supplier.
A matching scope does not prove compliance
A scope summary points you to a likely standard, but it cannot show that any material or supplier meets it. Check the full chemistry, mechanical, tolerance and acceptance clauses in a licensed copy.
