Dimensional tolerance
Mills supply to a tolerance band, not the exact nominal size. Plate on the plus side of its thickness tolerance can weigh 2–5% more than the calculated figure.
Enter the diameter and thickness, choose the alloy, and get the weight of each circle and of the whole order. Switch to ring mode for discs with a centre hole.
A circle is a thin cylinder. Its weight is the disc area (π/4 × D²) × thickness × density. For a ring, subtract the area of the centre hole.
Worked example: 1050 circle, Ø300 × 2 mm: π/4 × 0.3² × 0.002 × 2705 = 0.38 kg.
The calculator multiplies volume by the typical density of the selected alloy. These are the values it uses. Values are typical figures from published alloy data; the mill test certificate for your lot is the final reference.

Density varies with the alloying elements, from about 2.64 g/cm³ for 5A06 to 2.83 g/cm³ for 7050 and 2011. Temper has no practical effect on density.
Alclad layers, anodising, paint, PVC film and interleaving paper add small amounts of weight. Coated coil and sheet are usually quoted by net metal weight.
Freight is charged on gross weight. Wooden cases, pallets, steel strapping and coil cores typically add 3–8% on top of the metal.

Divide 1,000 kg by the weight of one circle. A Ø300 × 2 mm 1050 circle weighs about 0.38 kg, so one tonne contains roughly 2,600 pieces.
These alloys draw and spin well without cracking. 3003 gives slightly higher strength, while 1050 and 1060 offer the best formability. Their densities are almost identical, so weight hardly changes between them.
It gives the theoretical weight from nominal dimensions and the typical density of the alloy. Real material is within a tolerance band, so delivered weight usually differs by a few percent. Use the result for budgeting, handling and freight planning, and rely on the weighbridge or packing list for invoicing.
Each alloy has its own typical density, from 2.64 g/cm³ (5A06) to 2.84 g/cm³ (2219). If your alloy is not listed, choose "Other alloy" and enter the density from its data sheet. Pure aluminium is 2.70 g/cm³.
Yes. Every dimension has its own unit selector (mm, cm, m, in or ft), so you can mix units, such as a width in inches and a length in feet. The result is always shown in kilograms and pounds.
Both. Enter the number of pieces and the calculator shows the total weight, the weight of each piece and the weight per running metre.
